It was thing of joy on Sunday at the 8th Nigeria media Nite
out award when Bishop Samuel Akpan was honored with a Lifetime Achievement
Award for Outstanding Grassroot Entrepreneur/ Political Leader at Time Square,
Lagos on Sunday 31st August, 2014.
Bishop Samuel akpan was born on June 20 1957 at Ikot Ibekwe, Ukanafun Local Government area of Akwa ibom State, Nigeria.
He attended Ishiet U.A.C.C School, Ikot Akpan
Ishiet, Onna and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (F.S.L.C) in
1970. He proceeded to Secondary Commercial School, Ibekwe, Ikot Abasi Local Government
Area for his secondary education and obtained his West African School
Certificate ordinary level (WASC, O/L). In 1997, he sat for Royal society of
Commerce (R.S.A) and obtained stage III (Advanced Public Administration) and
Stage III (English) respectively in the same year. In 2002, he bagged
Postgraduate diploma in Public Finance and economics from Royal Society for
Arts & Commerce. Also in 2003, he bagged Post Graduate diploma in
Transport, Maritime, Shipping and administrative Management from the same
institution. In continuation of his academic prowess, he obtained Certificate
of Professional Practice from the Institute of commercial & Company
accountants of Nigeria in 2004, Post Graduate Diploma in Peace and conflict
Studies in 2009 from University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria; Master of
Business Administration in Port Administration (MBA) from United nations
University in 2004 and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in International Business
(Import/Export) in 2008 from the same university.
Bishop Samuel Akpan as a Politician started his intimidating political career in 1997 when he was elected Member, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Onna State Constituency and held various political appointments until 2003 when he became the International Co-ordinator, Akwa Ibom Peoples Forum (AKPF), the platform that enthroned the present Governor
Godswill Akpabio's Government in Akwa Ibom State. In 2006 he was appointed Chairman, Mobilization Committee, ''Godswill Akpabio Campaigns Organisation'' (GACO). Having won the party ticket for His Excellency, Obong Godswill Akpabio; in (2006) He was Appointed Chairman, Yar'Adua/ Jonathan Goodluck Presidential Campaigns Network, Akwa Ibom State, and
Secretary Mobilization Committee, Godswill/Ekpotu Campaigns, both mandates he delivered satisfactorily. He also served as Secretary of transition Sub-Committee on infrastructure and mega projects, from His Excellency, Obong Victor Attah to His Excellency, Obong Godswill Akpabio in 2007.
He was appointed the Honorable Special Adviser, Bureau of Political and Legislative Matters, Akwa Ibom State Government in 2007. He is the immediate past State Deputy Chairman of the ruling People Democratic Party, (PDP) 2008-2012 were He served in various notable government and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Committees at State and National
Levels among which are; member, PDP Zonal Screening committee for Governorship Aspirants 2011 (South -South Zone), Member, PDP Protocol Committee South-South Presidential Rally.

strong contender to the Eket Senatorial seat Akwa Ibom State in 2011 before he
was persuaded to step down. He was Chairman, Mobilization Committee and
Strategy PDP campaigns in Akwa Ibom State 2011 (Governorship/Presidential
Elections), He also served as PDP State collating agent for Independent
Electoral Commission (INEC) in 2011 general elections and he is currently
aspiring to be next Governor of Akwa Ibom State come 2015.
He really looks like a good option in Akwa Ibom
