Liverpool Open the Bidding for Bundesliga Starlet Leroy Sane

Liverpool have opened the bidding for in-demand Schalke winger Leroy Sane, according to BILD.

The Reds have reportedly submitted a £10.5m offer for the Germany international, which was rejected "out of hand" by his club.

It is said the Merseyside club will try their luck again as they look to add to their squad during the January transfer window.

However, Premier League rivals Manchester United and Arsenal are both reported admirers of the 19-year-old and could try to muscle in on any deal.

United are in pole position for Sane, according to the report, although it is thought that Jurgen Klopp's influence could swing the deal in Liverpool's favour.

Sane has emerged from Julian Draxler's shadow to score five goals and lay on four more in 10 league and Europa League stars this season.

The Schalke youth product was rewarded for his fine form with his first senior international cap in Germany's 2-0 defeat to France on Friday.

Meanwhile, Liverpool's alleged interest in Napoli winger Dries Mertens could come to nothing, after the Italians' sporting director confirmed the club are working on a new contract for the Belgium international.

“There’s a willingness on our part to keep him, and also on his part to stay,” Cristiano Giuntoli told Radio Crc, as quoted by the Express.

“We’re working, and we’re confident that there will be no problems. There’s no need for new meetings, the intention is to continue together.”

Mertens, who's previously admitted being interested in a move to the Premier League, has scored four goals and contributed one assist at club level this term.

LAGOS PAYS N41 BILLION TO PENSIONERS

The Lagos State Government has paid more than N41 billion accrued pension to over 9,000 retirees in line with her commitment to pay all pension arrears to pensioners in the State.
The Commissioner for Establishments, Training and Pensions, Dr. Benson Oke Akintola, who stated this while speaking at the 9th Pre-Retirement Seminar for employees who are due to retire from the Lagos State Public Service between January and June, 2016, said that the Government will continue to cater for the wellbeing and welfare of all staff in spite of limited available resources.
According to him, “Prompt payment of monthly salaries and allowances of all active workers by the Lagos State Government will continue to be our focus”.
Earlier, in her welcome Address, the Director General, Lagos State Pension Board, Mrs. Folashade Onanuga disclosed that the total contributions credited into active employees Retirement Savings Accounts managed by the Pension Fund Administrators approved by the State Government, from April 2007 to date is about N59 billion excluding the accrued Pension rights of N41 billion paid recently to over 9,000 retirees.
She added that the State Government has paid over N100 billion into her employees Pension fund, an act she described as a landmark achievement which also speaks volume of the premium the state places on the welfare of her staff.
“Despite the fact that the State Government’s accrued pension rights obligation is huge, it is determined to give retirees comfort and ensure they are well taken care of,” she said.
While noting that the State Government is set to pay N1.6 billion to another set of retirees this month, Onanuga maintained that the State Pension Board will not rest on its oars but works towards the payment of pension into staff Retirement Savings Account before retirement.
The DG also used the occasion to brief the prospective retirees of the State Government’s plan to continue to provide free health care service for them in retirement in recognition of their contributions to the State.
The Pre-Retirement Seminar is a bi-annual event which is intended to prepare employees who would be retiring for a life of financial independence. It is also aimed at educating them on early documentation requirement, amongst others

How To Take Care of Your Vagaina

It is important to know the dos and don’ts when it comes to vaginal care... in order to prevent
infection, odour and irritation.

 1. WASH D VAGINA AT LEAST TWICE DAILY:

If you work out, sweat excessively, or are involved in some other sweat-inducing activity,
then wash after each activity. Make sure you change your undergarments at least daily and
wash them in hot water to kill any stubborn bacteria. This will help to get rid of sweat and
bacteria may have been trapped, leaving you feeling and smelling better.

 2. DO NOT DOUCHE:
Don’t use antiseptic soaps or body scrubs to wash your vagina. These products make the
vagina unfavourable for good bacteria and impact on vagina health causing candida super-
infection (the one popularly called “toilet infection”).

3. ALWAYS EAT PLAIN:,
Unflavoured yogurt regularly or take probiotics. These have live active bacteria that contribute
to the healthy ecological balance of the vagina.

 4. ALWAYS KEEP YOUR VAGINA DRY:
Except you are having sexual intercourse.Keeping moisture and sweat down there is a
recipe for bad odour and poor vagina health.

 5. ALWAYS CHANGE YOUR TAMPONS OR PADS REGULARLY IF YOU USE THEM DURING YOUR PERIODS:

The longer they stay, the faster the bacteria on them will breed, causing potential infections.
You shall also avoid pads or tampons with deodorants, sprays or other chemicals.

 6. DO NOT DOUCH: that means do not clean your vagina by inserting your fingers or soap or
anything else. THE VAGINA IS SELF CLEANING,IT DOES NOT NEED YOUR HELP, LEAVE IT ALONE. Douching can change the acidity and bacterial makeup of the vagina, causing
infections, which may spread to the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries. It has been
associated with bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, and
adverse events in pregnancy. Ladies, there’s no need to douche or apply products internally. You
can keep your vagina healthy by simply washing of the vulva (outside) with water during your
daily shower or bath. Even if you had sex, or just finished your pees, there is NO need to wash
inside, you are damaging yourself.

 7. DO NOT USE MADURA STICK OR TUMABWE OR HERBS TO TIGHTEN YOUR VAGINA:

Your vagina is a muscle, no amount of sticks or stones or herbs will tighten it. The best you can
do to a muscle to work it, please try kegel exercise. You can do this exercise anywhere at
any time. Do you know why you think your vagina is tighter after using the sticks or herbs
etc? It is because they suck out the moisture from inside and make your vagina to swell,
therefore becoming smaller and you think you are tight. You are not, you are simply swollen
and having sex while swollen will increase your chances of bruising, infection and other health
consequences.

STOP INSERTING THINGS IN YOUR VAGINA, LEAVE IT ALONE.

Brotherhood, a unique and global brand, says NUJ chairman

Eyo Charles
Comrade Ndoma Akpet, chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists in Cross River State has described Brotherhood of the Cross and Star as a conspicuous brand, which has become accepted in most countries of the world.
He made the remark at the BCS world headquarters, No 34 Ambo Street Calabar Nigeria when he led a 20-man delegation of journalists to pay courtesy call on the King of kings and Lord of lords, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu.
Comrade Akpet maintained that through perseverance, the Holy Father has successfully created this religious brand that has no equal anywhere in the world, and which can easily be recognised anywhere in the world with unique features.
According to him, the brand has today become influential, sought-after and was magneting increasing number of faithful all over the world.
Akpet who is a pastor in his local church said: "I do not care what opinion anyone has about the Brotherhood and her leadership, but it has to be so for her to become conspicuous and unique as a brand. Brotherhood organisation has worked hard and passed many trials to be something to reckon with today. There is no organisation quite like it."
He recalled that a week earlier he was in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory of Nigeria, and heard how a set of young people were rendering sonorous, divine tunes in a taxi he was travelling in. He said he was engrossed. Although he said he could immediately trace who they were but he had to ask them, and to his suspicion, they said they were children of Father Olumba Obu.
"Brotherhood has made Cross River State proud going by her ability to continually pull tens of thousands of her members to converge in the city frequently for religious service.
"To me, this is religious tourism. And I want to encourage Brotherhood to continue to champion this brand of tourism.
"Cross River was supposed to be tourism destination, according to the state government. But I do not know how much they have so far succeeded compare with India and Brazil which are seen to be leading in medical and carnival tourism respectively. My own description of tourism is what Brotherhood is doing", Akpet said.
Also commending the Father for appointing and consecrating nearly 220 new bishops at one go, chairman of the state Correspondents' Chapel, an arm of NUJ, Mazi Judex Okoro of the SUN newspapers, said Father Olumba Olumba Obu has lived an exemplary lifestyle which is worthy of emulation.
He explained that they came to introduce the newly elected officials of the chapel and to solicit for Father's usual blessing to enable them succeed during their tenure.
He said that journalists in the state have always been on the side of the Father and will continue to be because the Father is embodiment of peace and love, and has always been their dependable Supporter, Friend and Patron of note.
He lamented however that when the Father instituted Investigative Award for Journalists many years ago in the state none of them met the required standard, promising that if such was revived and with the calibre of well trained and experienced reporters now, they would not miss the award.
He regreted that there was a slight disconnect between them and the Brotherhood for a period which led to their inability to regularly have one-on-one meeting with the Holy Father, praying that such unique opportunity should resurface.
"We are very ready to cooperate and continue to splash news features in our print and electronic media about Brotherhood and the Father", he assured, and appealed for Father's continued support.
Spokesman of BCS, his lordship Bishop Princely Ibeabuchi who received the large delegation of Cross River journalists on Father's behalf, apologised that due to very tight schedules of the Holy Father, especially as preparations for Eton Day/Consecration of new Bishops had become intense, He was therefore present at the meeting spiritually to bless them.
He used the opportunity to formally invite them all to the event, which he said bishops and other brethren were already arriving from around the world.
He said the Father was very happy to have them visit Him and encouraged them to continue to work sincerely and with absolute commitment to promote the works of truth such that inundate the BCS.
He said the Father will ever extend His large-heartedness and grace to them any time not only as their Patron but as the Sole Spiritual Head of the Universe.
The spokesman who presented a cheque of N300,000 to the Correspondents' Chapel for their welfare and equipping their new office, encouraged them to realise that they constitute a powerful bloc which position they should use to galvanize popular opinion necessary for the national parliament to make useful laws to benefit them and larger society.
In a press statement he later distributed to them, Father condemned same-sex marriage which was being championed by America.
He cautioned political leaders to stop to dip their hands into public treasuries and use same to better the lives of the citizenry.
Father urged all to live in peace, and the authorities to regularly resolve cases of civil disobedience using peaceful means.

FG asked to pursue completion of Ajaokuta, other steel mills

THE Federal has been called upon to vigorously pursue, complete and put the Ajaokuta iron and steel complex, the Aladja steel rolling mills and the Oshogbo machine tools and Aluminum Smelter project into full and efficient production in order to boost the performance of PRODA, NASENI and FIIRO.
Obibuzor Ifeanyi, President/Chairman of Council Institute of Business Development, who made the call in Lagos, said if   the nation’s steel and petrochemical plants are working well, producing raw materials for hand tools and machine tools, PRODA, FIIRO and NASENI will be in a better position to perform well by getting   those machine to equip their factories to mass produce engineering infrastructure.
Obibuzor, who spoke on the occasion of the Institute’s  summit on ‘Africa Regional Integration for sustainable comparative advantage’ with focus on ICT/telecom, agro-allied, aviation and finance, noted that  these technology development centers for now are doing simple  machine design and production and are capable to mass produce those machines  instead of importing everything from abroad.
“Nigeria, and indeed, the continent will go nowhere without the development of indigenous engineering infrastructures. We must as a nation, and continent develop engineering infrastructure in order to be independent of foreign machines.  We must get our priority right and every other thing will follow; engineering infrastructure must be done by the governments because it takes a lot of gestation period.
There must be commitment from the top to the local government –this is because the entire developed world gave attention to it.  We can’t stop talking about it and unless we do it, there is no where this country is going, there is no where Africa is going because you keep depending on developed countries and they will be laughing at you” he said.
Key speaker, Dr. Mohammed Kafafy, President, World Federation of Business Organisation/ Chief Consultant UNDP- GEF Energy Efficiency Project, noted: “We also need to develop people, not just education for certificates but we need quality education, education that changes mentality, individual life styles. This is the real education.

Proper Funding of Medical Education Will Help Health Tourism- Arogudande

:
The President of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, Prof. Rasheed Arogundade has advised President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to accord funding priority to the medical colleges across the nation.
This he argued would address the challenge of frequent visits to foreign nations for medical attention by wealthy Nigerians.
The Professor of Radiology, who gave the advice while delivering his inaugural lecture at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, said the focus of government has always been on the hospitals while neglecting the institutions that produce the human resources for the health sector.
Arogundade, who expressed his fulfilment for reaching the peak of his career, also revealed that many medical graduates from Nigeria are usually challenged abroad when confronted with modern facilities, which he said are unavailable for their training in their home country.
The lecturer, whose lecture was entitled; 'The Detective in a Radiologist,' linked the dearth of facilities to the raging problem of wrong diagnosis being faced in the country's health sector, adding that Nigerians are as brilliant as their counterparts anywhere in the world but are hindered by the poor equipment available.
He said; "Well, the solution to the myriad of challenges facing us as a nation should be that government should pump a lot of money into education and medical education in particular.
They currently don't allocate enough funding to the education sector and that is why the equipment we are supposed to be using to teach are not there. Most of our students who go abroad are usually as if they are starting afresh because they were more concerned with theories here without adequate practical experience. "

Nigerian Army re-engages retired soldiers

The Nigerian Army has re-engaged a number of its retired officers to serve as consultants and instructors at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery (NASA), Kachia, Kaduna state.

“This will no doubt greatly ensure the sharing of knowledge and expertise between serving and retired officers of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery (NACA), “Major-Gen. Lawrence Jokotola (rtd) said Friday in Kaduna.

He spoke at a pulling out parade organised for him and 32 other retired generals of NACA at the Kalapanzi Barracks.

Jokotola said that the Nigerian Army should sustain the initiative arguing further that, “as retired gunner offices, we are available at all times to contribute in whatever way the corps send us fit to perform in the achievement of its organizational goals and indeed those of the Nigerian Army.

“There is no gainsaying that that the challenges the military is currently facing are not unsurmountable if the old ideals of training, good administration and discipline address are extolled.

“I therefore enjoin all gunners to rise to the occasion and do the nation proud by providing timely, accurate and effective for support for the Nigerian Army in its drive to meet up with its constitutional responsibilities at all times.

“We all started the journey in the service of our fatherland as young men and grew up to become the retired generals that we are today.

“We were privileged to get the best education and training while in active service and these opportunities moulded all of us into responsible citizens that we are today.”

Man Successfully Sues Wife Over Ugly Children and Judge Orders Wife to pay $120,000

Jian Feng sued his wife for giving birth to what he called an “incredibly ugly” girl.

“I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues,” he told the Irish Times. “Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me.”

Initially Jian accused his wife of infidelity, because he knew he could never be the father of an unattractive child. However, DNA tests proved that the child was indeed his. Feng’s wife then came clean and admitted she had about $100,000 worth of cosmetic surgery done in South Korea before they met.

Feng sued his wife on grounds of false pretenses, for not telling him the truth about the plastic surgery, and duping him into believing that she was beautiful. A judge agreed with Feng’s argument and ordered his wife to fork over $120,000.

HIV flushed out by cancer drug

HIV can be flushed out of its hiding places in the body using a cancer drug, researchers show.
The cornerstone of treatment, anti-retroviral therapy, kills the virus in the bloodstream but leaves "HIV reservoirs" untouched.
The study, published in PLoS Pathogens, showed the drug was "highly potent" at reactivating hidden HIV.
Experts said the findings were interesting, but it was important to know if the drug was safe in patients.
The power of the HIV reservoir was shown with the case of the Mississippi baby.
She was given antiretroviral drugs at birth. Despite appearing to be free of HIV for nearly two years after stopping treatment, she was found to be harbouring the virus.
'Kick and kill'
A strategy known as "kick and kill" is thought to be key to curing HIV - the kick would wake up the dormant HIV allowing the drugs to kill it.
The team at the UC Davis School of Medicine investigated PEP005 - one of the ingredients in a treatment to prevent cancer in sun-damaged skin.
They tested the drug in cells grown in the laboratory and in parts of the immune system taken from 13 people with HIV.
The report said "PEP005 is highly potent in reactivating latent HIV" and that the chemical represents "a new group of lead compounds for combating HIV".
One of the researchers, Dr Satya Dandekar, said: "We are excited to have identified an outstanding candidate for HIV reactivation and eradication that is already approved and is being used in patients.
"This molecule has great potential to advance into translational and clinical studies."
However, the drug has still not been tested in people who are HIV-positive.
Prof Sharon Lewin, from the University of Melbourne, said the results were "interesting" and marked an "important advance in finding new compounds that can activate latent HIV".
She told the BBC: "This study adds another family of drugs to test to potentially eliminate long-lived forms of HIV although much more work needs to be done to see if this works in patients.
"Although PEP005 is part of an FDA approved drug, it will first take some time to work out if it is safe to use in the setting of HIV."

MBGN, MISS AFRICA HOLD IN CALABAR OCTOBER

David Asare

Plans have been concluded to stage the first ever Miss Africa and Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria Beauty Pageants in Calabar, according to an agreement signed by Cross River State government and Silverbird Group Friday.
Miss Africa Beauty Pageant, which will be managed by Silverbird Group; and MBGN will be hosted at prestigious Calabar International Conference Centre in October and December this year respectively.
Both Pageants are the first of the four year management contract for the hosting of Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN).
At the signing ceremony held inside the CICC, Governor Senator Ben Ayade said: "Silverbird has the capacity and expertise to manage the centre as as well as organize the pageants because they are the nation's number one in the entertainment industry. It is a four-year contract subject to renewal, but I know they have all it takes to manage the edifice as well as organize the pageants."
Ayade said by staging the two epochal events in the state, it was to further consolidate on the tourism drive.
"Calabar has taken its place as the destination for tourism and entertainment", he said.
Earlier Group Vice President, Silverbird Group, Mr. Guy Murrày-Bruce said the pageants would enable the state showcase its enormous tourism potentials to the whole world with the view to attracting tourists for economic gains.
"I am not only impressed about what I have seen today but overwhelmed for Calabar and Africa for this is the best destination to be and one has to travel wide to know. It is beautiful and scenic, I must confers."
He observed that though work is still in progress on site, the facility will be ready for MBGN in October as assured by the contractors who were busy putting finishing touches on the massive convention centre .

AYADE'S SIGNATURE PROJECTS MAY FURTHER IMPOVERISH CROSS RIVER -HILLIARD ETA

Eyo Charles

The three signature projects of Governor Benedict Ayade of Cross River State have been described as another big scam that would never be completed but which shall further cripple the state economy.

An economic and tax consultant, Nakanda Archibong Edet said for the governor to launch all out simultaneously with such heavy projects is an early indication that he wants to swallow more than he can chew.

"How can he holds two things in his hands and still wants to climb the ladder? How can he succeed?" He asked.

Commending the governor for his spirited determination to succeed,
National vice chairman of All Progressives Congress for South-South of Nigeria, Prince Hilliard Eta, however, said that the projects shall end up plunging the already impoverished state into another mountain of debts.

Shortly after he assumed the mantle of leadership of the state Professor Ayade announced that his administration would immediately focus on constructing deep sea port in Calabar since the federal government owned Calabar seaport has suffered so much politicking, and staggering amount of money sunk into it over many years for its dredging to accommodate bigger vessels without any headway. As a result, he said the non-dredging and non-activation of the Calabar port has negatively impacted against local manufacturers, the state and other businesses giving rise to his desire to construct state-owned seaport.

The other two capital-intensive signature projects include construction of 240 kilometre superhighway from Calabar through the vast forests to Obudu in the northern part of the state, and establishment of Garment factory. The garment factory which shall mostly employ widows and young people, reports say, Ayade wants to deliver it to mark his first 100 days in office. But over 60 days yet there is no certainty if this factory can come on stream next 40 days even though applications from widows are being received by Secretary to state government.

Gov Ayade has however assured that he would not depend on the lean resources of the state to complete these projects.

At a media parley fortnight ago, Ayade said: "I have visited Spain and Germany in the last few weeks regarding these projects. I have signed some Memoranda of Understanding with international financiers and technical partners in respect of these and other initiatives. More than 15 investors have so far visited me already. They have all indicated strong desire to participate in these projects. I have personally recruited technical staff abroad to complement our local staff in these projects. Already, we have much of the raw materials on ground. These shall reduce much financial involvement. I want to assure that little or no funds from the state would come into the projects. Therefore, there should be no cause for alarm."

But Eta has doubted that these could be feasible going by the state of insolvency prevailing.

Speaking to journalists in Calabar last week, the APC boss said: "First, let me commend Prof Ayade for the verve he put into these huge and mind-blowing projects. I can only say that these shall become another White Elephant projects which he would leave behind in the same way his two predecessors littered the state with theirs. Soon this state shall become white with elephants."

He recalled that Mr Donald Duke brought Tinapa business resort which not only consumed the state resources but ended up incurring heavy debts which have not been paid. And yet Tinapa is not put to optimal use as desired, even though it has since been sold to Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

Eta also recalled that Duke's successor, Senator Liyel Imoke, came to build what he described as 'needless' Calabar International Conference Centre, a stone throw from Tinapa, for almost the same purpose, sinking Billions of Naira borrowed from banks and international partners.

"I hear Ayade also wants to build his own called 'Cala-Vegas City' to complement his predecessors.

"Cross River is presently insolvent. The state is hugely indebted as a result of all these which are not priority.

"Before plunging headlong into this other dream trip, let Governor Ayade kindly tell us what this state is worth financially. Let him open up on our state of indebtedness.

"I can assure that this state does not have such amounts envisaged to prosecute these signature projects. Will he not go into partnerships and borrowing to do these projects? Where will that leave us?"

Eta wondered if the governor has taken into cognisance that constructing a superhighway of that magnitude and seaport, he first needs to clear with the federal government.

"No matter what and who he would engage for the highway construction, because required funds would hardly be handy to clear the forests, pay compensations, build bridges, etc, I see him ending up abandoning this and the sea port projects", he said.

A forestry expert, Samuel Akaninyene was equally worried that the 240 kilometre superhighway could destroy greater amount of forest, which on the long run, would impact against the gains from carbon credits which the state is currently benefiting from United Nations.

He said endangered species of trees found mostly in the state which were been conserved are going to be destroyed forever as a result of the road construction.

"We envisage that the destruction of the forest would be massive. Not only that the machinery and technology that would be deployed would dangerously affect the ecosystem. There is no doubt that the carbon credits the state presently enjoys from the UN as a result of forest conservation might reduce", he said.

In his recommendation, the APC boss who also is an indigene proffered that in the alternative, since the state is very rich with agricultural resources which seemed to have been relegated to the background, he should rather emphasise on how the state can bolster the three cash crops: cocoa, oil palm products and rice to impact the state economy.

Eta stressed "It is possible for Cross River State to feed the entire Nigeria, but because we have been indolent regarding the potentials accruable from agriculture we have therefore relegated it to the background.

"It is possible for this state to produce rice, cocoa and oil palm products in large scale quantity and export to other countries. God has hugely blessed the state with these natural crops, so that we can be in a position to supply the quantities needed by Nigeria and to other countries", he said.

He cautioned the state governor, Professor Ben Ayade to channel the energy and verve put in to solicit funds from banks, partners and donor agencies to finance his three signature projects to agriculture.

"Cross River State is presently insolvent. And these capital intensive signature projects would incur more debts to the state but investment in agriculture will not", Eta said

I enjoy playing for Arsenal Football club- Walcott

The England international doesn’t seem to have any issues with being deployed on the wings by his manager, although he has admitted his preferred role is as a central striker.
Speaking with Arsenal’s official website, Walcott discussed the flexibility of forward positions and how much he enjoys playing for the club, and was quoted as saying:
"In modern-day football the three up front tend to change around a lot. You see it with England and with Barcelona, so we have that sort of trust in each other knowing that everyone can do that sort of role. It's not a problem at all,”
"I like it anywhere. I enjoy playing for this club. It's well-documented where I want to play but there's a lot of competition in that front line. If I'm in a role then I have to do my best there, but it's another option for the manager. It's not a bad thought." added the England international when speaking to Arsenal’s official website.
Walcott has made 208 league appearances for Arsenal, scoring 50 goals. The speedster enters his 10th year with the club since signing from Southampton as a 16-year-old, and has a year left on his current deal.

HISTORY OF OHAFIA PEOPLE AND THE LEGENDARY OHAFIA WAR DANCE

By Amarachi Egbukichi. OHATV

Ohafia is a town and local government area in Abia State, Nigeria. It is an igbo speaking region. The ancestral capital of Ohafia is located in the village of Elu. The Ohafia Local Government Area also includes the towns of Abiriba and Nkporo. Historcally, Ohafia people left Andoli and settled in Isi-Eke, from where they ran away one night, when they heard the rattling sound of calabashes. The sound was interpreted to mean that they were being invaded which lead to a commotion, as some of them escaped toward Ngodo and others went towards Isuochi. At one point, some of them headed towards Abam leading the group heading to Abam, was a man known as Ezeama Atita, and his two sons called Uduma Ezeama and Onyereobi Ezeama.

When they got to Abam, Onyereobi's wife, who was heavy with pregnancy, could no longer walk. He, therefore, remained in Abam with his pregnant wife, while the group continued on the journey. In the present location of Ohafia, at a place called Ugwumgbo, Ezeama Atita, and his second son, Uduma, settled. After many years, their offspring established the 26 villages that make up today's Ohafia. The ancestral headquarters of Ohafia is in Elu Ohafia. Each village is governed by an eze ogo. All the eze ogo's come together to form the Eze Ogo-in-Council, which, with the amala, decide how the community is to be governed. The overall traditional ruler, Udumeze, who lives in Elu Ohafia, intervenes only when there is a matter between an eze ogo and a subject.

THE HISTORY AND ORIGIN OF WAR DANCE
In the past, the culture of Ohafia was hinged around one's prowess in war. They were constantly on the lookout for wars in which to
take part. They became something like mercenaries and the people of Arochukwu, who were all over Igboland 'hunting' for slaves, harnessed this warlike spirit in Ohafia people to their own advantage. The ancestors of the Ohafia people were renowned as mighty warriors. This aspect of the Ohafia peoples history remains fundamental to the Ohafia people's sense of identity.

The warrior's cap or "leopard cap" (Igbo: Okpu agu) is well known and is an associated product of Ohafia. The Ohafia warrior tradition is embodied in the performance of iri agha The practise of beheading a fallen foe was a favourite pastime. A human skull was valued as a souvenir, and it was a proof of a man's courage, which brought to the Ohafia man different types of honour. Only those who brought home a human head could join the Ogbu-Isi society and wear the eagle plume of courage. The love of military glory became a consuming passion and the focus of all social values.

The Ohafia people, whose warlike exploits made peaceful travel impossible, were now able to work abroad. By 1913, most of them were trading at Itu, in Akwa Ibom State, and Calabar, in Cross River State.

THE EARLY LEGENDERIES OF OHAFIA AND THE INITIATION OF EDUCATION
Before now, the Ohafia man, with his entire war prowess, went through a ritual, to purge him of his war-like traits. Perhaps, he needed to be told by no less a force than the colonial might the old order had passed away. And it came about in 1901, when a unit of the Royal West African Frontier Force (RWAFF) based in Calabar laid a siege on Ohafia and Ebem. It was in response to the destruction of Obegu, in today's Abia south, by fighters from the two communities. The Ohafia people had looked forward to that encounter. The people were in high spirit, sharpening their machetes and loading their dane guns with gun-powder. As usual, it was another opportunity for them to cut human heads. But, in their ignorance, they failed to realise that the firepower of the white man was far and above their crude weapons.

ENTER EKE KALU, the former slave. He had since returned from Opobo and was now visiting Calabar as a businessman, when preparations to raid Ohafia and Ebem were in high gear. The sight of RWAFF soldiers marching in Calabar, coupled with his experience in Eket when he was a gun carrier, compelled him to seek a way of saving his people. Eke Kalu knew from experience that his people, the famous and dreaded warriors of ancient Ohafia, the lions of the jungle, the proud and gallant sons of Uduma Ezema, would challenge the soldiers. He realised also that though the military tactics of the Ohafia warriors might surpass that of the RWAFF, yet their weapons were crude and nowhere near the firepower of the rifles and machine guns of the RWAFF soldiers. He, therefore, hurried out of Calabar in a canoe and, passing through Ikun, arrived Ohafia. It was an eke day and, on arrival, he went through the area, warning the people against challenging the soldiers.

Four days after his return, the British soldiers were on their way to Ohafia, taking the Akoli Adda route. Passing through Elu, they arrived in Ebem, where they pitched their tents at Ifi Iri-opu. Captain Mowatt commanded the soldiers.
No sooner did the soldiers arrive than an Ebem warrior, Idika Echeme, was said to have charged at them. Thereafter, the order to open fire was given on the other side of the line. Soon, trees and human beings began to fall. Each time cannon balls went off, trees and charging Ebem warriors were cut down. The pillar of Ikoro Nde Anaga also came down.
When they saw what was happening, the surviving Ebem warriors panicked and took to the forests for refuge. After Ebem was reduced to rubbles, the British soldiers turned their attention to Ohafia. As they approached, Eke Kalu wa waiting for them, not with machetes or dane guns. He had a long bamboo, at the top of which he tied a white handkerchief, which he waved frantically in the air, saying to the hearing of the approaching soldiers: "Ayi kwere na ndi beke", meaning: "We surrender to the British". Given his exceptional courage, Captain Mowatt was said to have demanded to know Eke Kalu's identity. Coming close to the captain was an opportunity the former slave needed to demonstrate, before his people, his ability to speak English language. To the captain's question, he proudly replied: "I from Elu Ohafia; my fadda, Imaga Agwunsi, say he no
wan war". The captain was pleased.

LATE LEGENDARY EKE KALU'S HOUSE and to another question, he replied: "I is de onle man for Ohafia hear English". When the British soldiers left Ohafia, the profile of the ex-slave rose among his people. The fact that he could engage a white man in a conversation earned him respect and honour. Consequently, they appointed him their adviser. The event that changed the course of Ohafia people forever occurred shortly after, and Eke Kalu was, again, at the centre of it. There was, in Ohafia, a Ohafia people". The day came when he locked some men in the prison for what was described as a trivial offence. The men broke out of the prison and were intent on beating him up, when he reported the matter to one Major Cobham, who despatched some policemen to his rescue. The prisoners were promptly rearrested and fines were imposed on them.

After this event, Ohafia people started looking for a way out of what had become regular persecutions in the hands of the Sierra Leonean. As the solution to their problem, Eke Kalu, advised them to build schools and educate their children who, knowing what the clerk knew, would better challenge him and his successors in future. The first school was opened at Ndi Imaga Shed. From now on, the desire for education swept through Ohafia like a bush fire. Ohafia is home to the third largest military base in Nigeria, named Goodluck Jonathan Barracks. It houses the headquarters of the newly established 14 Brigade and 145 Battalion office complex.

OHAFIA CULTURAL HOSPITALITY
The first thing an Akanu Ohafia man offers their visitors is Nzu (Kaolin), a native white chalk. This the visitor (if male) rubs on his hand, and (if female) rubs on either the neck or the tommy. This act is in no way fetish. It is done to prove that the visitor is welcome, and if accepted by the visitor proves the visitor has come in peace. After nzu has been given, the next thing offered is Kolanut. The oldest man in the house says prayers first before the kolanut is broken by the youngest male in the house. When sharing, the man of the house is served first, next is the visitor, then every other male from oldest to youngest before women. After the kolanut has been given, drink is brought (usually locally brewed gin), and it is shared in the same order the kolanut was shared. Everybody drinks from one cup!

Popular prophetess Helen ukpabio suffers stroke

According to reports making the rounds, the General Overseer of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries Church, Helen Ukpabio, is down with paralysis.

The prophetess, who is based in Calabar, Cross River State, has been criticised many times for demonising some children, who she brands as witches. Sometimes ago, she was reportedly barred from entering the UK because of her stand on such children.

It is reported that Helen is battling with stroke, which has kept her confined to the bed. However, her camp is reportedly pointing accusing fingers at her enemies.
Meanwhile, sources say it is really troubling to her loyal followers as the preacher, who is well vast in fighting mysticism, demonism and occultism is suffering such sickness and being unable to deliver herself.

She is said to have spent a fortune on the ailment, which has refused to go.

Man LOVE your woman unconditionally whether they deserve it or not- Golden treasure.

by Golden Treasure

Queen Grace Akpan also known as Golden treasure is a woman priest of God and a gosple artiste with good flair for accapella genres.Recently she delved into inspirational writing  and this is what she has to say about marriage.

Marriage is About Giving not Receiving. Marriage is not about meeting your spouse halfway 50/50. In a happy & healthy marriage each spouse gives 100% total commitment unconditionally & independent of what the other spouse does.

The Bible doesn't say, “a man should love his wife only if she will submit.” Or, “a woman should submit to her husband only if he loves her.” The Bible just says it is the husband's responsibility to love his wife (Ephesians 5:25) & it is the wife's’ responsibility to submit (Ephesians 5:22). If the husband will be commited to love his wife as Christ loved the church, then he makes it much easier for the wife to submit. If the wife will submit, then she makes it much easier for her husband to love her.

But God's command for husband to love & for wife to submit, is unconditional & independent of what the other spouse does.

Man LOVE your woman unconditionally whether they deserve it or not. Woman RESPECT your man at all times whether he shows you love or not!

Dont give up easily on marriage; if you truly love that person.

Impact Of Masturbation on Fertility

Masturbation is the Sexual Stimulation, especially of one’s own genitals (self masturbation), often to the point of Orgasm. Self stimulation usually with a hand or both hands, by oneself or sometimes with a partner.

This could go out of control and the person becomes masturbatory, indulging in excessively self-absorbed or self-indulgent. This act can take place on one self or between a male and female, or same sex.
It has become necessary for me to touch on some aspects of masturbation, in response to several enquiries and probing questions I have received from our numerous readers.

Masturbation does not necessarily lead to infertility, depending on your particular situation.
It also has no effect on your health as most people think, but each individual must assess the reason why they are masturbating, and unless it is for medical reasons, during the need to produce a Semen sample for processing to treat infertility.

People who masturbate excessively are in the harm of making it habit, which can be psychological and would require your visiting and confiding in a counselor or specialist.
Masturbation is not different from normal intercourse in that an orgasm causes ejaculation whether it is the result of masturbation or sexual relation.

When fertility is a concern, masturbation should not be practiced around the time of the wife’s fertile period.  This can lead to a decrease in Sperm reserve in an individual with a low or low – normal count and thus reduce semen quality at the time that the highest quality is needed when the wife is ovulating. This act invariably, does not have a long-term injurious effect on the testes.
When a man masturbates he has an orgasm and ejaculate, and when a couple is trying to get pregnant he may need to limit the masturbation and conserve the Sperm stores for the fertilization of the egg.

During masturbation
Every time a man masturbates to completion, he has an orgasm and ejaculate.  This lowers the sperm count available to fertilize the egg.   The male body needs to produce more sperm in order to refill the sperm reservoir, and this takes time for a man who is in a habit of frequent daily masturbation, the store will consistently be lower than a man that does not masturbate.  It is better to keep the sperm for proper use during intercourse; when the man allows the sperms to build up in the Semen rather than constantly depleting these stores, this can result in increased fertility.

In females
Female masturbation can also play a role in infertility.  When a female orgasm takes place, the cervix dips down to touch the end of the vagina; and this increases fertility. If the female reaches orgasm during intercourse, before the male, the acid in the vagina may enter the cervix and decrease the amount of sperm remaining viable for fertilization of the egg.

To maintain a high sperm count, the male should endeavour to wear loose under garments, refrain from over indulging in alcohol and quit smoking.  This is important because the higher the sperm count the higher the chances that one of the sperm will make it to the egg to fertilise it before it absorbs into the lining of the uterus.
There are many methods available in clinics to ascertain the sperm levels in each ejaculate.

Increasing sperm count

There are various ways of increasing the amount of sperm and mobility; and some natural ways are most effective.  The most important of these include eating a healthy diet.
Maintaining a healthy diet and taking a daily vitamin and mineral supplement can help increase the overall health of the body and thus the sperm.  Recent studies have shown that zinc supplement, with folic acid can increase the quality of sperm produced; this also being in line with the beneficial effect of folic acid on the foetus.

There is a great difference in fertility when a healthy sperm and high sperm count are maintained.
Increased costs of fertility treatment, has given use to the need to seek alternative ways, which include maintaining, healthy natural diet; to increase sperm quality and quantity.
Masturbating less often, and eating a healthy diet rich in Zinc and folic acid are great steps towards achieving parenthood without external intervention.

The act of masturbation, can be viewed from various angles, and individual cases considered; as to whether it is beneficial to you or not.
A young or growing adult is inquisitive and exploratory about many things in life, and this includes their bodies.  This is one of the main reasons why most people engage in this act; deriving sexual pleasure.
Whether it is beneficial to you or not, outside the discussion above depends entirely on you.  When you begin to get worried that it is becoming an obsession, is a pointer to the fact that you have reached a point where you know that it is not normal for you and you need help.

Even though this act does not cause blindness, insanity, hairy palms, hair loss, acne or cancer of any kind, as some earlier claimed, some studies have actually shown that it greatly reduces a man’s chances of developing prostate cancer.
Enthusiastic masturbation can be tiring, though, and overly frequent activity of this nature can lead to physical exhaustion.  If you however find yourself growing obsessed with masturbation to a point where it is interfering with work or personal relationships, it is time to cut back and speak to a professional, to identify underlying issues that may be the cause.

Religious views
Some religions find sexuality as a gift from God; that finds fulfillment in marital relationship; and the misuse of the gift of sex as a sin.  Therefore, because the act of masturbation is self directed, and by its nature is incapable of expressing love and concern to another person, it is viewed as a distortion of the purpose of use and therefore desire of the flesh.

This is more so, when it becomes an addiction since the practice of self pleasure is not viewed as honouring God’s gift of sexuality.
And they admonish that instead of turning to the desires of the flesh, they should turn to the Holy Spirit to manifest his fruits.
Others view this act as a way of allowing sexual behaviour to guard against adultery, pre-marital sex, etc and way of balancing differing libidos between spouses.

In conclusion masturbation has it various arguments for and against, depending on what the purpose is.  But it is important that, once there is a desire to stop this act, quickly make up your mind to do so, make a resolve, and speak to an elderly or mature confidant for encouragement and also seek professional help in a counselor as required.

So its left for you to make a choice. What do you think?

Man rescued from death by sex enhancer

There is nothing people cant do just to enhance their sexual pleasure. Please read this.

The men of the Lagos State Fire Service said on Saturday that they rescued a 40-year-old man from death after he used a sex performance enhancer that enlarged his pennies beyond expectation.

The Director, Mr rasak Fadipe, who made the disclosure in Lagos, said the man wore a metal ring on his penis.

The ring, according to him, was to enhance erection and ultimately enhance sexual satisfaction but turned out to swell the organ beyond his expectation.

“His experience turned sour when the penis became so erect and swollen beyond his expectation and could not come down and the ring could not be removed.

“When it became apparent that the condition was threatening his life, he rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja for help.

“The hospital invited the service to rescue the man, when they could not easily remove the ring.

“We successfully removed the metal ring in collaboration with the hospital staff at the emergency unit using our rescue tools,’’ he said.

“The incident happened at about 3.15 p.m. on Friday and it took us about 50 minutes for the operation.

“The man wore the ring to enhance his penis for sexual satisfaction, but it turned out to be a threat to his life,’’ Fadipe said.
